On DemandHouchen Bindery, Ltd. provides many other services beyond the library binding market. One growing segment of our business is service to the on-demand printer. Usually these copy centers will produce any specific quantity of a publication for the customer, and forward to us for a hard binding. Therefore the customer can generate one original, on paper or electronic, have an exact number of copies printed and bound. This market is growing quickly as the demand for short run, versus the high quantity required by traditional printers, continues to expand.
EditionPrinters who generate the traditional, higher quantity jobs, will also find that Houchen Bindery, Ltd. is an excellent source for hard and soft cover binding runs. When jobs are under 5000 pieces, our equipment and processes are often more efficient than that of binderies geared toward larger runs.
The ProcessWe produce these runs with a variety of processes, chosen by the characteristics of the run, or by customer choice. Leaf attachment can vary from our short run, state-of- the-art Ultrabind double fan adhesive bind (a process using polyvinyl acetate adhesive in a specific application), perfect, case perfect, Smythe, McCain or Singer side stitch (wire side stitch optional). After being cleanly trimmed, possibly rounded and headbanded, we can create covers of various types. Most case-bound work is either four-color with or without laminate, or the more traditional covercloths with hot foil stamping. Shrinkwrap is also available.
